Advanced Driver Training

Objective of the Advanced Driver Training Course

TSU provides advanced defensive and offensive driving courses. The objective of this course is to create a more confident, alert and courteous driver by improving your general levels of awareness and skills.

  • Confidence is established by improving your skills and increasing your level of understanding through practical guidance.
  • Alertness is created through an anticipative and defensive state of mind enabling you to respond in the correct instinctive manner to any hazardous driving situation.
  • Courteousness is developed by recognizing your own and the vehicles limitations in a controlled environment.

Advanced Driver Training Course Content

  • Defensive driving techniques:
    • Vehicle checks
    • Sitting and steering position - brake recognition
    • Loss and regain of control
    • Aquaplaning
    • The system of car control
  • Offensive driving techniques:
    • Handbrake Turns 90°
    • Handbrake Turns 180°
    • 180° Reverse Turns
    • Reverse Ramming Techniques

Assessment Methods

Based on theoretical and practical assessment and through comprehensive scenario based exercises, all course objectives must be passed in order to obtain your Advanced Driving Course certificate.

Course Duration

  • Option One: 2 Days Defensive Driving
  • Option Two: 3 Days Defensive and Offensive Driving
  • Option Three: 5 Days:
    • Apply advance driving skills: Defensive Driving U/S 377201
    • Apply advance driving skills: Offensive Driving U/S 377220
Security Training

Cost of the Advanced Driver Training Course

Option One: 2 Days

Defensive Driving: R 9 150.00 per student (incl VAT). Minimum 6 students per course. Cost includes:

  • All training material and certificates
  • Range and track fees
  • Coffee, tea and lunch
  • Vehicles and fuel

Option Two: 3 Days

Defensive and Offensive Driving: R 11 000.00 per student (incl VAT). Minimum 6 students per course. Cost includes:

  • All training material and certificates
  • Range and track fees
  • Coffee, tea and lunch
  • Vehicles and fuel

Option Three: 5 Days

Defensive and Offensive Driving (U/S377201 and U/S 377220). Cost available on request. Minimum 6 students per course.

Costs above do not include:

  • Transport to and from Gerotek
  • Accommodation
